Along the way, you will spot hikers in simple runners, some even in flip-flops, such as myself, or bare feet! We hiked on a dry, sunny day, and the trail was still slippery. Wear hiking shoes with more grip, especially if you have weaker knees. If you drive or take public transportation, this is also where you will park and start hiking!ĭue to the frequent rain in the valley of Manoa, this 1.6-mile roundtrip trail can be wet and slippery. It is also where most tourist buses stop and bring visitors to lunch. The trail is well-maintained and starts at the bottom of Paradise Park, a former nature theme park and a filming location. You can also park in the nearby residential areas to avoid the fee in exchange for an extra quarter of a mile walk. There is an unattended parking lot at the base of the falls for $5. It’s easy to find your way to Manoa Falls by car, regardless of which direction you’re coming from. Best of all, it won’t cost you much - $10 to $12, maximum! The fall is a nice stop to visit after you’ve explored a major attraction in the area. It was about 15 minutes from Diamond Head and 20 minutes from Waikiki Beach. The bus leaves every half hour before 8:00 AM and then every hour after. When you get off the bus, head towards the mountains, and you’ll see the start of the trail. I’ve seen some claim this waterfall could be even taller at 160ft in height, but maybe there were hidden upper tiers when you sum it all up. Manoa FallsĪnd from what we could tell, this thin 55ft waterfall is one of the island’s more impressive waterfalls. I think it’s very well known and popular because it’s literally a hop, skip, and a jump from Honolulu or Waikiki. Manoa Falls is perhaps O’ahu’s most popular waterfall (especially with the 1999 closure of Sacred Falls).
